A force in the textile field since
1977, the non-profit Surface Design Association is committed
to education on all levels of expertise and interest. SDA
seeks to raise the level of excellence in surface design by
inspiring creativity and encouraging innovation through all

Inviting the exchange of ideas, conferences are held every

Joint Conferences: SDA participates in joint
conferences with other organizations, such as Studio
Art Quilt Association (SAQA)
Regional and state events: Exhibits,
workshops, and meetings allow members within a
region to present their work and interact with each
other
Instructors Registry:
Members who give workshops and lectures can be listed in the
Registry. Public can search to locate teachers for schools
and groups

Online Auction: Members can donate artwork for public
auction to benefit SDA
SDA Image Library: Members can upload images for
public viewing, select images to download for educational
purposes, and upload entries into juried online SDA gallery
shows
SDA Journal
exposure: Members can submit artwork for inclusion in
the SDA Journal “Exposure” section
Conference presentations and member show: Members can
apply to present workshops or lectures or enter the member
show at SDA conferences
Newsletter classified ad: Members are allowed a
free 25-word non-commercial classified ad published in the
quarterly SDA Newsletter
