See Me As I Am, 2022
Corriedale wool, merino wool, silk margilan, ramie and rose fiber, mohair and Wensleydale wool, silk and cotton threads, plastic beads and trinkets, copper wire, metal key 22”w x 16-1/4”h
After 2 years of Covid-related loss, and a world filled with racial and political divisiveness, an artistic challenge was exactly what I needed to take my mind off the chaos outside my studio. This piece helped me reconnect and reaffirmmy creative passions. The neutral palette suggests tranquility, signifying the peace I longed for. Beads, remnants and trinkets are encased within fiber, reminiscent of the comfort of a cocoon. The reflection of stones on a beach sparkles like the faces of family and friends.
