Dolossus, 2023
Fabric, thread, yarn, cardboard 3000x2000x2000mm
Dolossus is a metaphor for transformation and in-between states. It refers to the Greek spirit of trickery characterised by cunningness and shape-shifting. The term 'dolos' also refers to concrete blocks used as a wave-breaker barrier between land and sea. In Afrikaans 'dolos' also references the knuckle bones of goat and sheep that are used during tribal divinations.
