This workshop teaches silk painting using transparent dyes, Resistad and other water-soluble resists. Working with the primaries magenta, yellow, blue, plus black, students will explore color theory as they learn to mix transparent color both on and off the silk. For this workshop, students should have basic experience on how transparent dye behaves and mixes on the silk. Demonstrations will focus on using dye, sodium alginate, cellulose, water and salt to create imagery and border design. Cellulose will be used both to treat the silk and as a dye thickener.
