During the 9 month residency, using fiber as a medium and/or starting point,  the artists researched and explored the dichotomies present in their work and within the group, addressing concepts of time, transformation, materiality, space, intimacy and potentiality. Artists in DUALITY are ANDREW BOOS, ISABELLA AMSTRUP, MARTHA SKOU, MIA DANIELS, REBEKAH BASSEN, SARAH FINKLE, and VIEN LE WOOD. ABOUT TEXTILE ARTS CENTER Textile Arts Center (TAC) is a NYC-based resource facility founded in 2009, dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of textiles through creative educational programs for children and adults. At TAC, we aspire to unify the textile community and advocate for the handmade by providing accessible, skills-based classes that reinvigorate engagement with traditional crafts. ABOUT TAC’S ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE Textile Arts Center’s Artist in Residence (TAC’s AIR) program equips emerging artists and designers with resources and skills to better articulate their practices and contribute to their communities. TAC’s AIR program is one of the world’s leading residency programs, focused on textile arts.  Situated at the intersection of a studio residency and an academic program, TAC AIR combines studio access with a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum, regular critical dialogue and mentorship. Over the course of 9 months, the residents study weaving, knitting, and surface design, along with textile history, modern craft theory, and professional development. Structured bi-weekly critiques  are moderated by some of today’s leading textile artists, curators and innovators. The program culminates with a group exhibition, which showcases the work developed at the Textile Arts Center. Since 2010, TAC AIR has graduated over fifty artists and designers. Our alumni are involved in a broad range of arts activities, including arts education, women’s international development, social activism, fashion and tech entrepreneurship, fine arts, regional makers movements and local community development initiatives.
