This workshop will cover design and color theory, with a focus on silk technique and project completion. ALL LEVELS Session runs August 24 – 25, 2018 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily, open studio hours on select days. $190 tuition + $35 registration fee Artist Bio: TRACI PADEN: From the day I discovered silk and painting on silk with dye, I felt I had found magic. I thought about it all the time, it invaded my dreams each night. I became so passionate about painting on silk that I made it my career. That discovery is over 20 years old and the full time career that followed began in 2001. I create contemporary hand painted and dyed Silk Art wearables. My art is a fusion of luxurious silk, vibrant color, and artistic expression. I employ several dye and resist techniques. The primary resist method is created by drawing on stretched silk with resist, and then painting in the areas separated by the resist. Other methods include batik and shibori. Together these methods combined with artistic expression create a body of work which is fun-loving, bold, and expressive. Inspiration comes from nature, music, and the positive energy that surrounds us every day. I create all aspects of my work from the fabric design and execution to clothing design and finally sewing each piece of one-of-a-kind wearable art. I currently live and work on Wolftever lake outside of Chattanooga, TN in a house that my husband and I designed and built. I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Design. The work is ever changing and growing. It is to be enjoyed!
