We’re a small arts-based startup in Lower Manhattan seeking artists to be featured in our digital tutorials. Artists must be excited to share their craft with others. Experience performing workshops or teaching is preferred, but not necessary. What’s more important is being able to engage your audience and convey how and why you do what you do in a way that others can follow along and share in your creative process. Our tutorials will be approximately 40 to 60 minutes in length and show an audience of beginners how to create a beautiful art project in the comfort of their own home. What we’re looking for: – Projects must be appropriate for beginners, but still beautiful, relevant and impressive. – Projects must be challenging enough to justify our members watching a 40 to 60 minute tutorial, but still accessible. – Process driven work using a unique skill or technique that you can break down into parts to teach to others We want to showcase a rich variety of projects from ceramics (air dry or oven bake) and painting to textiles, paper and leather goods. Be creative! Surprise us! Just know the end result must have a more elevated appearance. This is meant for adults not children, so strong design, quality and uniqueness of materials will be highly valued. Ideally, projects should also allow our members to personalize their piece and make it their own where they can learn from your process and/or technique to make something similar, but in their own tastes. An Artist stipend will be provided if selected for production as well as a portion of the sales for your featured project. Artists will be expected to commit to 2-3 days of filming if selected. EXAMPLES: If you are a painter, tell us how that translates into a project that others can do at home, that is not just also painting a canvas, but creating an object or artwork that is inspired by how you paint. If you’re an artist that uses embroidery, how is your technique and project different than someone purchasing an already pre-made kit? If you’re an installation artist using unusual products, how can that be adapted into a small functional or decorative item? To be considered, submit a proposal for an art project where all needed supplies could fit in a 12.5″ x 10″ x 3″ box and 5 pounds and under. Please include a cover letter, links to your website and social media/Etsy stores etc. Send to firstname.lastname@example.org with ARTIST SUBMISSION in the subject line.
