Image Statement: On my last visit to Mount Vernon, I took a new tour about the Enslaved People of Mount Vernon. I was shocked to learn that over 500 slaves lived and worked there during George Washington's lifetime. I made this quilt to inform others who don't know about this history. It was my 4th visit to Mt Vernon over 3 decades. Every time I visit, I learn something new. This was made for the Virginia Quilt Museum semi-quincentennial exhibit opening in July 2026.
