Experimental Quilting Workshop
Instructor: Caroline Silverman
Explore materials and different methods of image making through experimental quilting! This workshop will look at traditional quilting methods, and use these techniques to inspire new ways of thinking about how we make quilts. We will also be thinking about quilting as a story-telling tool. You will learn how to bring new and unusual materials together to create your vision, while also learning historic piecing, planning, and construction quilting techniques. Paper, fabric, plastics, and natural/found objects will all be used to make mixed media decorative quilts that will be ready to hang and display. Sewing will be combined with various methods of mark making. Knowledge of hand sewing is helpful, but we will go over basic stitching techniques in the workshop.
