I Witness – 4 artists, what they see and how they see it
In the exhibition, I Witness, the artists Juliet Martin, Mary McFerran, Deborah L. Morris, and Mollie Thonneson explore the world through fiber. In this installation-based show, the artists comment on self-awareness, healthcare and safety, technology and social interaction, sexuality and desire.
“In Something Looks Wrong,” Juliet Martin weaves tapestries that combine anonymous women with communal eyes. “They share a narrative which shields their individuality,” states the artist.
“Wolf, “ by Mary McFerran pleas for safe and legal healthcare for women by building an installation around the Wolf Mother, a fierce and knowing protector.
“______” by Deborah L. Morris reflects on the “life-sized shadows we walk through as we go about our daily activities, lost in our own thoughts, glued to our smartphones.”
“Eye Candy,” by Mollie Thonneson exploits the color, texture and seduction of women’s lingerie by reworking it into a flowing display of desire.
The public is invited to view the installation during regular gallery hours Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 11 to 6 PM. There will be an Opening Reception on February 22 , 4-6pm and an Artist Talk on Feb 27, 6-8pm.
