Pat Williams Has Stories to Tell, an online TEx@ATA exhibit from the American Tapestry Association
The latest addition to the TEx@ATA online exhibition gallery of the American Tapestry Alliance features the work of tapestry artist Pat Williams. Pat, a five-time recipient of the ATA Award of Excellence, converts her sketches into woven images that tell thought-provoking stories. Curator Tommye McClure Scanlin, Professor Emerita of the University of North Georgia, describes Pat’s work as humorous, yet poignant.
In this exhibit, two dozen tapestries created between 2001 and 2018 are grouped into three categories, Mindscapes, Portraits: Real and Imagined, and Church Kneeler commission. The accompanying commentary points out details and raises questions, deepening the understanding of each piece.
