RIVER STORIES: Woven Work by Kristie Strasen

Through a loom and yarn, Strasen explores the profound impact of the Columbia River system; from its headwaters in Canada to its termination at the Pacific Ocean. She weaves a story of ecological importance, cultural significance, and ongoing struggle for conservation and Native sovereignty.

Through abstract design and masterful weaving, RIVER STORIES brings attention to the power and fragility of the Columbia River and her waterways. The exhibition challenges viewers to reflect on the rivers’ role in sustaining life, shaping landscapes, and preserving traditions that have endured for centuries.
