Shibori Indigo & Ice Cube Dyeing Workshop

Instructor: Miriam Jacobs
Over the course of this workshop, you will learn two methods of fabric surface design: Ice Cube Dyeing and Shibori Indigo. Some of the techniques can be used in both but each method offers distinctive results in color and pattern. You will learn how to manipulate cloth to create patterns for Ice Cube Dyeing, resulting in painterly and experimental images, or clear, discerning patterns. Using the magnificent purplish blue indigo, cloth is folded, clamped, and wrapped the traditional way to create elegant and classic patterns. Using objects placed inside the cloth, you will also learn non-traditional ways of making images. No artistic background or skill sets are required – but these methods work best if you are willing to experiment, use a little bit of strength, and have some patience. The most important requirement for this workshop is to love color!
