Have a blast while turning a solid-color piece of fabric into a one-of-a-kind work of art for use in garments, quilts, or other textile projects.

In this day long surface design class, Dale will explain and demonstrate the variety of techniques she employs in transforming a plain piece of fabric into an exciting textile that has flair and visual depth.

In the morning you will make some samples and we will cover:
Creative ways to use commercial stamps and stencils, and a quick way to turn a stencil into a silk-screen
Appropriate paints to use, and why
Using tools such as rollers, pouncers, sponges, brayers, etc..and use of common household items in your work
Visual layering with imagery and color

In the afternoon you’ll go to town on your larger piece of fabric. You’ll have available to you a large selection of stamps. Expect to: 1. Have a lot of fun!, 2. Learn some new tricks, and 3. Go home with a fabulous textile of your own creation!

Class Fee: $140 + tax = $150.68 (cash or check made out to Fiber Arts on 4th).

Students Should Bring: A 1-yard piece of fabric. White ok…but a colored piece is more forgiving, three 12” x 12” pieces of fabric for sample making, apron, any old towels or sheets if you have them (they WILL get paint on them), and any pouncers, brayers, stamps, stencils and/or sponges you might have and life to use.
NOTE: if you are new to this, Dale will have available for your use a large selection of stamps, stencils, and tools.
