Weather Wear
Mary McFerran “Weather Wear”

For her debut solo exhibition at BAU Gallery, Weather Wear, Mary McFerran addresses the global crisis of climate change in a personal way, with a series of mixed-media works. Combining her love of sewing recycled textile remnants with drawing and painting, McFerran creates facsimile dresses, maps and wall art to tell a visual narrative.
Using assemblage and sewing techniques, McFerran constructs fiber pieces that alert viewers to the extreme weather conditions now frequently headlined in news stories. “In my art works I explore the human scale of climate change by designing facsimile clothing dedicated to topics of flooding, drought, hurricanes and fire. I aim to call attention to the vulnerability of our environment, but also celebrate the life force of Earth.”
