Weaving for Texture Workshop

Instructor: Amanda Thatch
Come explore a variety of ways to get maximum texture in handwoven cloth. Using floor looms, we will weave in multiple structures and with a variety of materials to achieve distinct effects that utilize shrinking yarns, deflected threads, and multi-layer weaving. Participants will create a set of samples to inform their weaving ideas going forward, and learn how to select appropriate pattern drafts and yarns to achieve cloth with movement and dimension, from subtle to extreme. Experienced weavers will explore new ways of working, but ambitious beginners are welcome as we will discuss and practice the essential steps of hand-weaving including designing a project, winding a warp, dressing the floor loom, and wet finishing.
