Zero Waste & Tapestry Weaving on a Clay Loom
Instructor: Cynthia Alberto
This workshop will focus on introductory weaving techniques and stylistic considerations when working on tapestries. Not only will you learn how to dress a loom and weave on one, you will use handbuilding techniques to create your own unique ceramic looms! The main overarching theme is about the ways in which sustainable practices benefit the environment, while facilitating the creation of stylistically unique work. You will be encouraged to use recyclable and fabric-based items (plastic or paper bags, old shirts, clothes etc.) to incorporate into your project. Two basic weaving structures will be taught; the plain weave and rya knots. Beginner and Beyond
