Goldenrod and Asters, 2023
wool fabric cut into strips 48" x 48"
Every piece of life on the land where I live inspires me by its complexity and interconnectedness. The DNA that is the common thread in all living things is a molecule I studied for years as a scientist and I cannot help but see it working when I walk around my yard. In the late summer, the goldenrod and asters take over the fields behind my house and I watch the bees, moths, butterflies and various wasps flit around their pollen. How can bacteria, mushrooms, flowering plants and human all exist because of this one beautiful molecule?

Birds are going extinct at an alarming rate and I try to create another world where they can still exist. This alternate world is the only one I want to live in.

Vermont Portraits, 2022
cotton and wool 48" x 66"
This piece is an homage to indigenous people's art in composition and style but with a Vermont flair. I focus on nature as do they.
