Documenting life in my garden is an ongoing project. In this series cyanotype coated silk is exposed in sun using Spring flowers ( lots of Iris) and dew from the grass. Sun and water are essential to this process. Vertical running stitch to create rhythm of water.

Documenting life in my pollinator garden is an ongoing project. In this series cyanotype coated silk is exposed in sun using summer flowers and dew from the grass plus butterfly stencils. Sun and water are essential to this process and to the life cycle of fireflies. My home near the Bark River is the perfect environment for water loving insects. Glo thread records the flight patterns which is backlit with tiny lights.

Whitetail deer antler, reeds dyed, sweetgrass 12" x 10" x 5"
I learned this technique from Richard Gonzales, Iriquios Oneida Turtle Clan, he learned from an elderly Oneida member. I am harvesting shed antlers and using natural materials which I dye and weave to document our shared history. This antler is from Pennsylvania, land of Erie, Iroquois, Shawnee, Tutelos, Delaware people. Reeds dyed with kudzu and other plant stains.
