Image Statement: By a Thread Red is part of a series of artwork originating from a tattered vintage courthouse step quilt. The blocks were separated, repaired, and over dyed, using natural dyes. They were then reassembled to create a new nine patch quilt. Each of the pieces have their own characteristics and color ways, and the handwork of the original makers is highly present and influential in the quilts’ reincarnation.
