Image Statement: This piece is a retelling of the story of how my grandmother secured her home. Her mother in law owned a few homes for rent and a house had just become vacant. The problem was she had two sons who were recently married and needed a home so she devised a plan and decided that the first person to have a piece of furniture inside the house could claim the property as their own. My Grandmother raced down the road with a kitchen chair to claim the home for herself, husband and their future family.
