Make the Fabric, Make the Garment A Five-Day Immersive Wearable Art Retreat with Bianca Springer & Stephanie Ruyle
From raw textile to runway-ready—this retreat is a celebration of bold making, fearless experimentation, and personal style. Over five transformative days, students will craft one-of-a-kind garments from the ground up, beginning with improvisational fabric piecing and culminating in custom-fit wearable art.
The journey begins with Stephanie Ruyle, whose intuitive approach to color, composition, and texture will guide participants in creating dynamic textile panels through spontaneous design. Then, garment artist and educator Bianca Springer leads the transition from fabric to fashion, walking students through the construction of striking, personalized garments using Simplicity Pattern 9271.
By week’s end, each maker will leave with one or two finished pieces that reflect their creative voice—designed, pieced, and sewn entirely by their own hands.
