“Sharing Spaces” suggests the economy of space; the intimacy of both physical and emotional personal space. For makers, the act of sharing one’s creations in a public forum or space is emotionally vulnerable and intentional.

Through his process of building clay forms, rendering the clay surfaces, molding glass, and firing the pieces, Serritella creates monumental organic forms that prompt the viewer to share the space with them, evoking an intimate exchange between the viewer and the piece. Eric’s somewhat contrasting mediums exist in harmonious juxtaposition, prompting the viewer to question their own coexistence on planet Earth.

Eric Serritella comes from a unique breed of creators who have successfully transitioned from a professional business career to a career based in contemporary craft. Over the last 25 years, Eric has established himself as a highly respected studio ceramist, taking influence from traditional Yixing teaware techniques. Recently, Serritella’s body of work has transitioned to include pate de verre glass forms, marking a new era of his practice, of which can be witnessed here at Gravers Lane Gallery from September 29th to November 9th, 2026.
