Portal (1), 2026
Fabric, thread, cotton batting on wood stretcher bars 36x36 in.
"Portal" is based on my memory of driving a twisting gravel road through the forest, celebrating the sacred routine of commuting. Traveling the same route on different days and in different seasons reminds of how both nature and ourselves are continually evolving and changing. The commute itself becomes a portal from the openness of the outside world to the protected creative space of the studio.

Volley (1), 2026
Fabric, thread, cotton batting on wood stretcher bars 24x36 in.
The “Volley” series explores a memory of playing catch with a tennis ball at the beach with my son. The repetitive task of throwing the ball back and forth parallels the constant back-and-forth conversation between my son and myself; the lobbing of ideas, questions, thoughts, moments both mundane and deeply beautiful. We stood at the water’s edge, an ever-changing delineation between land and sea, reminding me of the way in which there is an ever-changing delineation between my son and myself, a boundary that shifts incrementally as we move and find where one of us ends and the other begins.

In The Deep (1), 2026
Fabric, thread, cotton batting on wood stretcher bars 14x14 in.
The "In The Deep" series explores the way in which the natural world changes across time and space, and how the memory of walking in the same space repeatedly can change as both the person and the environment iterate.

Gaze (1), 2026
Fabric, thread, cotton batting on wood stretcher bars 14x14 in.
The “Gaze” series is based upon memories of observing the natural world, specifically the color relationship of leaves of a tree against the sky. The abstracted shapes and sensation of movement call to mind the way in which many shapes in nature mimic each other, as our present emotions often mimic situations from memories.
