Fractured Lives, 2023
puzzle collage 4'hx6'w variable
Fractured Lives (2023) is a part of my Missing Pieces series about loss. Using self-designed laser cut puzzle pieces allows me to speak to the interrelatedness of our lives as well as complexities of dealing with the gun violence that plagues our nation. So many lives have been lost and families fractured by the unnecessary and indiscriminate access to assault weapons that our current law allows. We are beyond being able to count or even adequately cope with such loss.

Missing Pieces: Help, 2022
Mixed Media Height: 42” Width: 30” variable
A commentary on our relationship with the natural world, Missing Pieces Elements draws attention to problems of pollution we need to solve in the form of a double-sided jigsaw puzzle with pristine landscapes on one side and images of our degraded natural environment on the other. A double-sided puzzle format speaks to both the complexities as well as the interrelatedness of dealing with problems that are really two sides of the same issue. It can be laid out in a variety of ways but should include the dark side of what we are facing absent urgent climate action.

Missing Pieces: Justice, 2021
paper, wood Height: 28” Width: 24” variable
Missing Pieces is the beginning of a series about loss. A double sided puzzle format speaks to both the complexities as well as the inter-relatedness of dealing with problems that are really two sides of the same issue. This first piece is a commentary on our national history of social injustice and has the Constitution on one side and the names of Black victims of police violence on the other. It can be laid out in a variety of ways but always with missing pieces.
