Screen printed with proaction dyes, photographs printed on silk organza, 4x4 wound dressing gauze, embroidery floss, variegated threads 24"Hx12"W
When you view sterile city skyscrapers they may seem to be angular, hard edged & uninteresting. But at different times of the day, they become alive with shadows, texture & organically expressive with the weather and time changes.

SEEING RED PAREIDOLIA, 2023
commercial fabric, variegated cotton & wool thread. Techniques used are machine piecing, bias tape appliqué, & quilting. 55.5"x55.5"
Pareidolia=the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern. This art piece is a homage to the quilting process. I wanted the viewer to see shapes out of randomness. I used a cubist style of breaking up and reassembling objects into an abstract form. Irregular pentagon tessellating blocks have been combined to reveal a geometric star polygon and cubes. I used colored bias tape, variegated threads and a variety of red colored fabrics to perceive specific images in a random or ambiguous visual pattern.

Commercial Cotton, Variegated Thread, machine pieced and quilted 65"Hx50"W
Wind is the movement of air. I was fascinated with the animated map of global weather conditions at earth.nullschool.net website, illustrating wind is a powerful energy source in our world. I used a screenshot at a particular place & time as inspiration for my art piece.
