Ghosts, Angels and Amazons, 2023
Cotton Fabric, silk screened with Procion MX dyes, cut up, re assembled, stitched back together, machine stitched and embroidered with cotton and rayon thread W 37" X H 31"
Ghost, Angels and Amazons was my response from healing from childhood trauma. The ghosts of previous generations haunted our household, fortunately I had angels in my community who could fill in as substitute parents in my healing process. I had to develop an inner Amazon in order to heal and protect my spirit child.

Remember Ukraine, 2022
Procion Mx dyes, silk screen on cotton sateen, whole cloth quilt, machine quilted 28.5"X25.5"
Remember Ukraine was made in February and March as part of my series using the human figure as a motif. Listening to and reading the news I was struck by the idea of using a figure motif to respond to human suffering and trauma, particularly in Ukraine at that moment in time. The blue background with a touch of yellow represents Ukraine, but the figures could be any people being forced to flee their country or fight in respond to an invasion. The red bodies faces represent the lost voices of the dead, while the marching figures faces and voices were given expression through the quilting.

Procion Mx dyes, silk screen on cotton sateen, whole cloth quilt, machine quilted 36"X36"
Step Out of Line, is one of a series of silk screened quilts using the figure as the central motif. In step out of line I was exploring how two different screens used on the same surface can speak to one another, through size, color and placement.
