X Marks the Spot – trash as treasure, 2024
Linen, found nautical rope fibers 14" x 14" x 1-3/4"
X Marks the Spot; trash as treasure. Can we find hidden gems in our cast-offs? With the abundance of discarded material, creatives have been exploring ways to use refuse as raw material for their work. This project advocates for the practice of transforming found textiles by repurposing their fibers. This piece is the result of collecting nautical rope from the RI coast. By teasing apart the rope, individual strands lend themselves as surface treatment, embellishing the handwoven cloth. May the apparel industry take up the challenge to discover the treasure trove in discarded resources. Techniques used: handweaving & embroidery

Knots of Gold, 2021
paracord 9.5"diameter
This line was used to represent lineage. It's a reflection of knowledge and craft past down from generation to generation. Starting with the practical work of a sea captain, to a boy scout turned outdoorsman, then finally onto a girl, turned fiber artist.

This 3D sculpture is inspired by the patterns in nature that exist across the natural world. In this case, the fibonacci pattern has been used to show a transformation. Linked, sharp, rectilinear forms give way to softer organics ones.
