Call and Response: Abidjan, 2023
Dutch wax cotton, hand dyed cotton, embroidery, beads, sequins 38" x 44"
Using hand dyed, painted, commercial fabrics my quilts are rooted in explorations of my personal, spiritual and cultural identity. Additionally, I freehand cut the textiles in order that the quilts maintain the quality of coming from the hand. Improvisation guides my inspiration through textiles and mixed media. This quilt is part of a series that explores the rhythm, music and movement of the African Diaspora
