The Fabric of Who We Are - SDA International

SDA Regional

The Surface Design Association’s International Group is proud to present The Fabric of Who We Are, an online exhibition celebrating our global community, honoring our shared connections, and serving as a visual introduction to one another’s creative worlds.

Rather than working to a rigid thematic prompt, this exhibition asked a simple yet profound question of our members: If you had to choose one piece that holds the core DNA of your creative voice, which would it be?

The resulting collection brings together works that represent the true heart and soul of each artist’s practice. For some, it is a major breakthrough project from a decade ago; for others, a complex piece that took years to finish, or a recent creation that captures exactly who they are as a maker today. By sharing the work they are most proud of, these artists open a window into their individual studios and build a deeper, more inspired connection as an international collective.

Curated by a peer committee from within the SDA International Group, this exhibition serves as a testament to the diverse and evolving landscape of global fiber arts. The collection highlights works that navigate the intersection of tradition and innovation, reflecting unique cultural perspectives alongside shared human experiences.
