Image Statement: The title in French for this hand woven tapestry is PONT JACQUES-CARTIER. This work is framed and measures 74 x 105 x15 cm. This tapestry is woven in mercerized cotton and glowing emerald green fiber optics that are animated by a microcontroller that is programmed to change colors when visitors clap their hands. This was inspired from the view of the Jacques-Cartier Bridgge spanning the Saint-Lawrence River in the city of Montreal, Canada. Since 1974 I weave textile art, often with imbedded lighting effects from fiber optics, as in this tapestry woven on a TC2 Jacquard loom.
