Bags are a challenging field of the 3D design and can be complicated in felting therefore this is a project you can learn the most about constructional felt making.
The biggest challenge of felted bags is how to add depth to a flat “felted pocket” to make it more functional in everyday use. Bags have to have enough pockets, the right closures, the right size, the right depth, seamlessly connected strap etc.

Come, design your own bag and learn:

how to make the template for the bag and the pockets
how to enlarge it to the right size
how to mix different qualities of wool fibers for the best result
how to create color gradation with dyed wool tops
how to work around several resist templates to make several pockets
how to add depth to a bag, and open and shape it in 3D
how to attach straps and embellishments seamlessly to your bag
how to full and shape the bag perfectly
how to stitch zippers for safe closers

On the first day of the workshop we’ll make purses, which are samples on a smaller scale, to master the idea of how to add depth to a bag. Then you’ll design your very own bag that fits perfectly your needs with its details. The bags can be decorated with silk fabrics, or by applying the “cracked mud” technique. By the end of the workshop you’ll have a unique bag designed to serve your needs and all the skills you need to create more and independently!
