Lo invisible que sostiene el mundo (What Holds the World (Unseen))

The Invisible That Sustains the World
A Textile Art Exhibition by Lucero Vargas-Almeida

Through a collection of contemporary textile artworks, The Invisible That Sustains the World explores the unseen forces that shape our lives: memory, care, migration, resilience, relationships, and belonging.

Created from recycled and reclaimed textiles, these works combine hand stitching, embroidery, appliqué, and mixed-media techniques to transform everyday materials into visual narratives. Each piece invites viewers to reflect on the connections that sustain individuals, families, communities, and ecosystems, often beyond what is immediately visible.

Drawing from personal experiences of migration, motherhood, community work, and intercultural relationships, Lucero Vargas-Almeida’s textile art weaves together stories of transformation, loss, adaptation, and hope. The exhibition includes both figurative and abstract works that examine the delicate threads linking people to one another and to the world around them.

Visitors are invited to slow down, look closely, and consider the invisible structures that support life, connection, and collective well-being.
