Valued Vendor: PRO Chemical & Dye

PRO Chem Booth & Product Display

Since its founding in 1969 by Adelle and Donald Wiener, PRO Chemical & Dye has sought to encourage creativity and exploration in textile design and to serve as an educational resource. Our mission can be summarized in three words: Quality, Education and Service.

The dye industry has changed quite a bit over the past decade. Patents that control the making of dyes are running out. This has presented us with the challenge of acquiring and purchasing dye lots that remain consistent in strength and solubility. We will not buy any product unless it matches our standards and meets our approval. We pride ourselves on offering our customers the same consistent quality products year after year.

In addition to our products, we offer free technical assistance to our customers. Questions are answered by phone or email and all product directions and MSD Sheets can be accessed 24/7 via our web site.

PRO Chemical Indigo Sample

PRO Chemical is always looking for new products. One of our latest additions is PRE-REDUCED INDIGO. This new form of indigo is 60% reduced–and only needs soda ash to complete the reduction. No more searching for hard-to find and hazardous-to-ship LYE. No more $25.00 surcharge for shipping units of LYE. NO LYE.

PRO Chem Pre-Reduced Indigo Granules

SOY WAX has been a great alternative to batik wax, because you no longer have to boil out the wax or take the items to a dry cleaner. A hot wash with Synthrapol will remove the soy wax—and will not clog your drain.

PRO Chemical & Dye Soy Wax Chips

Another new product that we are proud to offer is an alternative to Synthrapol. This new detergent/wetting agent–called PROsapol–does not contain any alcohol (like Synthrapol)–making it much more environmentally friendly.

PRO Chemical & Dye: PROsapol

PRO Chemical has a classroom where visiting artists from around the world come to teach their students a wide range of techniques using our dyes and paints. These workshops provide unique opportunities to learn new technical skills and to grow and evolve creatively.

i have been dyeing fabrics with pro chem dyes for about 20 years. In the past 4 years I have had some problems using Fuchsia and Grape from Pro Chem. They do not mix well with other dyes especially the pure pigmented dyes (MX). They seem to be darker and clumpy when on fabrics. When I layer the dyes on fabrics they won't cooperate either. Can you help me? Or, are those dyes just not useable for me?
