Hygge – Creating Sanctuary

What is hygge (HUE-gah)? Perhaps the Danish word ‘hygge’ is not meant to be translated; it is meant to be felt. The concept of hygge can be thought of as a warm glow, a feeling of comfort and contentment, a deeply satisfying feeling of well-being, and an indulgence in all the good things and people in one’s life. It includes the sharing of stories about ideas, history, culture and the things we create. Hygge is personified by making the ordinary meaningful and special. It is a warm embrace for the soul. Artists are invited to submit original artwork for the “Hygge – Creating Sanctuary’ exhibit to be held at the Kavanagh Gallery of Fine Line Creative Arts Center, St. Charles, Illinois. The show is open to all mediums.
