This workshop is an introduction to the creative and technical possibilities of machine knitting. Learn the basic techniques of machine knitting including the essentials of choosing yarn, calculating gauge and tension, and shaping. Then explore the possibilities of color, structural effects, material quality, and embellishments through the development of knit swatches. Improvisation and experimentation will be encouraged to create a series of unique knitted fabrics. The most interesting swatch experimentations will be further developed into knitted art pieces or simple wearable items. No prior knitting or fiber experience required.
